DGL are proud to support our very own Bob & Robyn Shackell and their crew, who are themselves committed supporters and entrants into the Variety Bash, a fantastic, fun filled motoring event across the outback & rural towns of Australia. The Shackell team have been a part of this fantastic event for many years now to ‘do their bit’ for our less fortunate kids and their greater communities.
The Shackell’s 1968 Ford Falcon sedan joins the Bash with a gang of older cars and buses (over 30 years old) who travel through remote areas visiting local towns, schools, and communities.
WHAT IS THE VARIETY BASH
The Bash comprises of about 300 people who travel some 5,000km through sub-standard conditions including dirt roads, national parks, forestry & private property. Some even dressing up into character before they reach their next remote destination, to ensure the kids are left with an experience and lasting impression filled with smiles, laughter, hope & aspiration.
Bashers even get to visit the kids, schools & communities, they’ve helped in the past whilst putting on a show and raising money to lend a helping hand, where sometimes there is simply no help at all.
After visiting the Shackell family in December and learning how passionate they are about the event and the outcomes achieved, it was without hesitation that our own CEO Simon Henry jumped on board to ensure DGL lent a healthy hand and long-term commitment in support of this fantastic cause
